Sprint Gas Racing is encouraged by today's performance at Sandown Raceway, with some steady progress made in car development.
While Jason Bargwanna finished the day 15th and Greg Murphy in 17th place the team was more impressed with the time gains made.
"We started the day a fair way off the fastest time of the day, but finished only four-tenths down in the end," Jason Bargwanna said.
"Had I not been blocked on my fastest lap I would have done a 10.4 (1m10.4s lap) which would have had me eighth or ninth.
"I spent the majority of the day hovering around position eight to fourteen. We are clearly a car that has some speed.
"I like Sandown, it's a track that suits me and I'm very comfortable racing here.
"The car is working well and I can see that we have the potential to race strongly here this weekend.
"I am very encouraged with the gains we made today and am looking for more (gains) tomorrow."
Murphy, making his 150th V8 round start, made steady progress throughout the day.
"I'm not happy to be seventeenth fastest but put into perspective we are only half-a-second off the pace," Murphy said.
"I didn't use new tyres today so I expect us to be faster tomorrow.
"I got held up in traffic on my two fastest laps. We possibly should have been in the top 10 to 12 which would have been a good start for the weekend.
"The car wasn't turning well into the corner at the start of the day but we improved this and the car ran better.
"Overall, not a bad day."
