GREEN FREE DAY FOR SPRINT GAS RACING
November 26, 2009

Sprint Gas Racing focussed on car development on old tyres rather than use its precious green tyres today.

Jason Bargwanna and Greg Murphy finished 23rd and 24th place respectively, at Western Australia's Barbagallo Raceway, with both drivers choosing to save their green tyres for the weekend's two qualifying sessions.

"Today we just wanted to get a feel for the car on scrubbed tyres and tune the car in preparation for qualifying," Bargwanna said.

"We didn't use green tyres at all today and that was done on purpose.

"I have to admit it was tempting to turn to greens after I flat spotted my second practice set, but we had to look at the big picture.

"That extra set of greens could come in very handy."

Murphy echoed his team mate's feedback.

"We were a bit off the pace, more than we wanted to be, but we didn't use new tyres and we have found a balance, which is the important thing," Murphy said.

"We had a list of things we wanted to focus on and got through today's programme without throwing our greens away.

"Like Bargs said, we were on tyres that were not great and we have a full bank of tyres for tomorrow."
