The Sprint Gas Racing duo of Greg Murphy and Jason Bargwanna have both narrowly missed a place in tomorrow's top 10 Shootout.
In Queensland for the Nikon SuperGP, Murphy qualified 12th for the opening 150 kilometre race while Bargwanna starts 15th.
Both drivers were headed towards a start up in tomorrow morning's Shootout but were denied when Jason Bright and Russel Ingall came into contact forcing a double yellow flag.
"I can't believe it, we were there, we were on the verge of making the top 10 and the yellow flags come out," Jason Bargwanna said.
"The Ingall/Bright accident ruined my chances of qualifying inside the top 10.
"We were on our best lap. My split times had us there - I just had to bring it home.
"It's so important to start as high as you can here, you can very easily get caught up in traffic for an entire race.
"It's obviously no one's fault but sometimes I can't believe the bad luck that's served up to us."
The double yellow flag also impacted Murphy.
"Yes the yellow flags slowed me but what can you do," Greg Murphy said.
"We struggled early (in the session) with a car that felt really heavy, but we changed tyres and adjusted the balance and that seemed to make a world of difference.
"In the end we missed the ten by a couple of tenths."
Murphy was pleased with his car and expects the team to be competitive in the weekend's races.
"The car felt good all day," Murphy said.
"It wasn't too bad out of the truck so we didn't need to do anything elaborate or complicated - which is a nice feeling - you're not chasing your tail all day.
"Bargs also did well; we were both up there today.
"It's nice to have a couple of competitive cars."
